I travel with
and within my voice.
I bite into silence,
open my mouth
and let it go
Alternating between the indie rock scene –with five albums released to great acclaim – and her work in the field of experimental sound, Ainara LeGardon (Bilbao, 1976) has forged a career that is the logical result of an intense personal and artistic distilling process spanning more than two decades.
Whether she’s accompanying her songs with a rhythm section, improvising solo or as part of projects such as Archipiel, La Criatura or Colectivo maDam, Ainara aims to strip the music of any accessories to unleash its full expressive potential while bringing new sounds together. This austerity in form allows her to calibrate intensity and shape silence in fine detail and with intent. Why limit something to being a song when every possible sound can be embodied?
Ainara offers a voyage in real time, where she is the path to be taken and the landscape arises from the delicate balance between light and shadow, strength and frailty, fear and truth. The organic and the instinctive come together, conjuring every possible world and emotion we are capable of, intimate and imaginary, personal and universal.
At the same time, her teaching work in the field of Arts Management and Intellectual Property and her commitment to independence have made Ainara LeGardon a reference artist in constant evolution.
“I leave the studio singing in a different language, two speakers down, a couple of the guitars recovered and a map built on echoes.
I only need to find a title.
Or perhaps not.”
